Protecting our communities - south east London Vaccinations Programme Update

South East London Integrated Care System (SEL ICS) is working hard to ensure everyone receives the maximum protection against potential illness and disease - including getting the information and support they need, and access to vaccinations wherever they live.

COVID-19 Spring 2023 booster

Groups eligible are:

  1. People aged 75 and above
  2. People with a weakened immune system
  3. Residents of care homes for older adults

There is a useful leaflet with more information – and translated versions – here from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA): https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-vaccination-spring-booster-resources

People will be contacted by the NHS to arrange their vaccination, or they can make a booking now by using the NHS App, visiting nhs.uk/CovidVaccination or by calling 119.

COVID-19 first and second doses

People aged 5-49 who have had any COVID-19 vaccinations, or not had their second dose, can still get this protection up to 30 June 2023.

Many people have had concerns about COVID-19 vaccinations originally and continue to be unsure or have questions. Others may have only recently arrived in the area and not be aware they can get these free vaccinations from the NHS. Everyone is entitled to free COVID-19 vaccinations, including people not registered with a GP.

Ensuring children and young people are up to date with routine vaccinations

SEL ICS is working together across their six south east London boroughs to raise awareness of the importance of protecting children now, and in the future, against severe illness from polio, flu, measles, mumps, rubella and other childhood diseases.

  1. Many children in London are not up to date with their routine vaccinations – which can be seen here
  2. Every child is entitled to free NHS vaccinations, and they don’t need to be registered with a GP. Parents and carers who aren’t sure if their child needs vaccinations, or if they’re not registered, can contact any GP surgery. Details can be found here
  3. Please help us raise awareness, particularly with parents, carers and legal guardians facing most challenges accessing health services, such as transient families; young and single parents; asylum seeker and refugees; and others in our most under-served communities
